Power Optimization Achieved Through the Localized SCADA System; Energy Management and Intelligent Consumption Data Analysis at Mobarakeh Steel

This strategy, implemented through localized expertise in optimal electricity management, enables more effective control of Mobarakeh Steel’s energy demand. It significantly reduces penalties associated with exceeding permitted electricity consumption limits and prevents production losses, resulting in substantial economic savings for the company.The necessary activities for deploying this product across all companies within the Mobarakeh Steel Group are underway.

 This project, identified as one of the priority initiatives of the digital transformation program, was defined in six segments in 2022 and implemented by IRISA Company in collaboration with experts from the Power Distribution and Engineering Affairs units.This innovative project enables energy management and intelligent analysis of consumption data through multiple modules modeled after international systems and developed based on the operational knowledge of the Power Distribution unit’s personnel.

It provides a solid foundation for future deployment of comprehensive energy management systems at Mobarakeh Steel.Regarding the necessity and implementation process of this project, it should be noted that in 2018, due to multiple issues in Siemens’ software and the inability to modify it, Mobarakeh Steel decided to assign the mission of developing an Iranian SCADA software to IRISA Company. The first phase of this product, built upon a precise understanding of the steel industry’s specialized needs—particularly those of Mobarakeh Steel—began in 2018 and replaced the Siemens system in 2021.In the second phase, starting in 2022, IRISA Company, led by the Digital Transformation Department and supported by specialists from Mobarakeh Steel’s Energy and Utilities Division, began designing and developing the next stages of the product, ultimately resulting in advanced capabilities.

 Beyond electricity distribution, this software has been implemented for managing Mobarakeh Steel’s utilities network and for monitoring and controlling the electrical network and all solar equipment at the Aftab-e Shargh Solar Power Plant.Optimal use of available energy to maximize steel production, preventing heavy penalties for excessive electricity consumption, adding Mobarakeh Steel–specific features to the product, incorporating an energy management module capable of managing energy across the entire Mobarakeh Steel Group, possessing advanced SCADA features comparable to global systems such as Siemens, and enabling customization, SCADA deployment, energy management, and intelligent model development are among the benefits of this project. With expansion across the Mobarakeh Steel Group, it can also deliver advantages such as integrated energy management and improved production line efficiency.With the implementation of this project, IRISA Company and Mobarakeh Steel now possess a customized product in the field of electrical energy management. The IRISA SCADA product, developed through the technical expertise and dedication of Mobarakeh Steel and IRISA specialists, is competitive with international counterparts and has the potential for deployment in other industries.The system’s features include full monitoring of the electrical network, tracking and managing internal energy production and consumption, optimal load allocation among production areas during periods of limitation, rapid detection and response to network outages, open-flow modeling in an off operation environment, and scenario analysis.As the IT parent company of the Mobarakeh Steel Group, IRISA has installed and launched this system in the first phase at Saba Steel and Rolling Company, Sepiddasht Steel, and the Aftab-e Shargh Solar Power Plant.

 In the coming years, other companies within the Mobarakeh Stee
